Interview with Jazzman Olofin

Jazzman Olofin, known for his smooth fusion of R&B and Hip Hop first introduced himself to the Nigerian audience in a group called X-APPEAL alongside fellow artiste Lexzy Doo who is featured in his current effort “READY TO GO”. Describing his music as “original flavored Nigerian Hip Hop”,
Fortunately i was able to get an interview with him.

Hello Jazzman, its very good to finally get an interview with you.Ok so tell me a little about yourself, starting from how  you got the name 'Jazzman Olofin'.
The name Jazzman came about in the early 90s while i was in school. At first i was called Jazzy, then when i entered unilag it developed into Jazzman. Well ........Olofin is the short form of my surname (Olofinkuade).
How has the year 2012 been for u so far?
2012 has been cool, most importantly personal. I've been able to solidify my private life. I am a family man, i believe in building and maintaining a nice family. Its not just about getting married and making babies here and there, one has to be around to build its foundation with love, lessons and spiritual security so that growth can be towards the positive direction.
Hmmm so is 2012  just for the family or are u presently working on anything?
Yes, I am working on a project of my new artist Alama, we've been recording and pushing his single. We just recorded another single that will be dropping soon. A nice song! Am sure the Chap will go places. Working on his video as well. Title of his first single is "Gborie"  and his second single will be "Bamilo". Yall sud watch out
Should we be expecting anything from u anytime soon?
Yes, i am working on my own tv series/sitcom. Still putting together young and fresh production crew to kick off.
What do u think about the music industry now?
It has grown to a huge level. More glamorous and international. It still needs to be well structured internally though. Whats the use of glamour and so called 'swagger' if only very few ones make money? And when their hit cools off there is no proper structure for them to fall back on to make sure they are still making the money. Gregory Abbott, American singer who sang 'shake u down' still makes like 1.5million dollars yearly from royalty on that same song he dropped early 90s. Thats like 225million naira per year. He is not really singing anymore but he is protected by the american structure. So Nigeria needs structure enforced and powered by the government.
Who is presently your favorite young act?
Ice Prince and M.I. They are very talented, hardworking and humble. This is a rare combination in most new Nigerian acts..
For someone who has been in the music industry for the past 15years, what advise would you give to the upcoming artists?
Watch and Learn. Work and Pray.
So what would you like to say to your fans reading?
Be good. Be inspired Be spiritual.
